Brand history

The building of the brand's empire began with the purchase in 1873 by Senobio Sauza of the La Antigua Cruz distillery. Senobio Sauza immediately changes the name of its new plant to "La Perseverancia". This name, by the way, has survived to this day.

In 1873, tequila hits the international market - the first export shipment arrives in the United States. But in general, the decision to use this particular agave was dictated by economic considerations, rather than its specific taste. Later, almost all tequila producers switched to blue agave. In 1909, Senobio Sauza died. The enterprise passed to his son Eladio. In the 20th century, the development of the company alternated with cycles of both a sharp rise and an unexpected recession.
